Going South for the Winter

I’ve talked before about the difference between training and training. This season, my training got a kick start early on with a trip to San Francisco with my buds and teammates, Hayes and Steve. Last year it took until March for me to get shelled on a climb and get motivated to work harder, this year it happened in December.

Riding around in the bay area with those dudes was beautiful and challenging, two of the best sources of inspiration. My last post was about moving more towards running, so it seems strange for me to now be looking at a season that includes almost none of that. I’ve often felt myself pulled in a number of directions athletically, that’s what lead me to race triathlons last year! But multi-sport never seemed as satisfying as either running or biking alone. At the end of the day, what’s lead me to focus on bikes has been the teamwork and the community that I’ve found in the sport.

I’m stoked to be riding with these guys, excited to start pumping up the training, and to start stepping up some podiums in the months to come.
